Reversing camera

Just got a reversing camera installed by VW themselves (6 months after buying).

Looks like any reversing camera I've ever seen except the guide lines don't move when you move the steering wheel. I've seen a lot of these cameras in the past and never seen one where the lines don't move.

VW are trying to tell me theirs is different but it feels like I'm being fobbed off. Anyone here got one or know for sure? Thanks.

So you are asking do the lines move in a factory fitted camera?
No, unfortunately they don't.

Can't comment on the t-Cross haven't got it yet, however my Tiguan, there are one set of lines that are directly back from the car sides, and another set that curve according to the steering wheel to show you where the car will actually go as you turn. Though from the picture in the brochure it may not be ..

Thanks. Confused now though. Got one person telling me they dont move and another telling me they potentially do move. Not sure whether to push back on VW or not. :?

interestingly, that picture doesnt quite look like the one that I have got. My "car" graphic is on the left hand side and I seem to have three different coloured lines, whereas that appears to only have two.

Oh well, thanks for responding anyway.

Unfortunately there are only static guide lines .

Mine don't move, just straight lines..

Also concerned as my wife has selected the car and is expecting the guide lines the same as my Tiguan. While its still useful for her, the guide lines do help additionally.

I ordered one with the reverse camera, pretty sure the test car also had 2 sets of lines, moving and non moving.
Unfortunately i can't tell for sure as the car isnt expected before January

Edit: found this on youtube

Its a t roc but why would it be different?!

Because it's most likely cheaper.
Could it be possible, that moving lines are only on cars which have parking assist?
Can anyone who has that, comment on this?

Sorry no movement of the camera lines with park assist.

Hi there,

Have a T-cross SEL DSG R-Line LHD with scandinavian winter pack. All extras included. These lines are not on my camera - told that the lines are dependent on the camera installed ....
Do you mean you don't have lines at all, that's weird?

I checked with my VW dealer and they can only purchase and retrofit one version of the camera. So it appears the UK at least have been screwed from a factory order or retrofit perspective.

Of course one could buy the High-line version from an online dealer but that may or may not have warranty implications. So I will play safe and stick with the dealer installed UK low line version. God knows what "even Lower-line" version we'll get after Brexit, probably a flip down "reversing bumper" basically an old tyre that allows one to nudge into whatever is behind the car !!!

Just taken delivery of ours, and yes the lines on the camera don't turn. However I did think it was a very clear picture and on a very large screen compared with my Tig. I guess we'll just live with it, she who's car it is happy with the camera, and I didn't have a problem reversing with the static lines.

Incident read last night the camera gets a wash when you wash the back screen. EDIT: Grrrr this was miss information, the camera (factory fitted) does NOT have the wash jet, and in the rain because of where it is it's pants as it gets very wet and unviewable.

I have my dealer retrofit camera now, no moving lines but it works well. What I don't have though is the small vehicle image showing parking sensor alert bars as it beeps - my camera does not have the car image on the right as shown below. I only have a clear camera with fixed lines, no other graphics but I hear the audible beep of the rear parking sensors.

Do others have this and are your cameras factory or dealer retrofits?

Thanks

I think I have exactly the same as you. However, I used to have Cross Traffic Alert which visually showed me which direction traffic was coming at me from when reversing (along with a beep). Since this new camera, I no longer see the visual and only have the beep. :(
