Hello, I'm a new member and recently (about 40 day ago) I bought a new T cross 115hp
I would like to place a situation for discussion.
after 40 days of use (about 2500km with care - less than 100km/h) I had a message on the board that rear gear does not work and the engine light on.
I went on VW service and after 5 (!) days they told me today that the problem is in the gear box and they're gonna replace it.
The gear box will be in Greece in about 2 weeks and than need some time for the replacement.
How often is this? probably very rare...
is something I can do cause I'm very disappointed?
In which situation I could ask for car replacement since the cost of the car is 21800 Euro and the cost of gear box about 5-6000 Euro and I had the car only for 40 days and is in the service 5 days already and probably 20days more?

I follow the all Tiguan and the Tiguan mk2 forums in addition to this so I can say this is very rare but unfortunately bad for you. Certainly in the UK we would be advising to reject the car as not fit for purpose. I don't know if Greece has a similar law? I'm sure this must give you a bad feeling about the car and its future reliability.
I hope the dealership has given you a replacement car whilst yours is off the road.
Its a major component with lots of parts - a problem early on could easily happen. parts can fail.
A new gearbox is a very straightforward swap. Problem solved.
Im not sure you can reject after 30 days. You have to let the dealer attempt a repair - if the repair fails, then you can reject.
VW's DQ200 seven-speed DSG box was plagued with problems if you believe what you read on the internet. I rather think this is the gearbox fitted to the new T-Cross but it may prove more reliable mated with the lower torque of the T-Cross.
The thing is, in the UK we have set rules if an item does not come up to standard, now in Greece, they might have a different set of rules?
In America they have a far better set of rules than we do, their return point is far better than we have.
In your first post you put " after 40 days of use (about 2500km with care - less than 100km/h)" did you purchase it with 2,400Km on the clock and you've done the 100Km. Who said it had done the previous Km's "with care" it could have been a demonstrator and had the @rse knocked out of it?
If possible return it and ask for another motor.

You say about letting the dealer attempt a repair? I would think finding a VW technician who could do, or attempt a repair on an auto box, would be like trying to find chicken teeth. Todays technicians mainly do replacement of parts, I'm afraid that's the way the worlds going, nothing is made to last !!!
