R Line & DSG or.........

I keep humming and harring between the R Line or SEL and DSG or manual.

I live in southern Spain and local roads are not the best up my mountain. I'm nervous about 18' wheels given the poor road surfaces. Can anyone give me any guidance? My dealership is too far from the mountain to get the test drive to drive home. ;)

And another thing. Manual or DSG? Anyone regret their choice either way?

I've got a SEL DSG and love it. Was initially dissapointed at no paddles but find that a knock down into sports mode give a welcome boost if you need to push on.

If in Spain I would certainly go for the SEL mainly because I've seen the parking and would prefer the plastic cladding to the painted body colored bits!

I agree with the above comments.... I have an SEL dsg but with 18 inch wheels... I don't have a problem with the wheels but, if you live on rough roads, the 17 inch are probably a better choice.! The dsg is great super smooth for normal driving, if your road is very steep, you can select the manual option to hold it in a specific gear..

Thanks everybody, my solution for parking is to always park at the farthest point in a car park and probably take up two spaces. Three parking dents in the first three months living in Spain. None since new tactic

SEL DSG It will be :D (once I've watched that YouTube video).

I personally find the 18 inch tyres a little hard on suburban poorly maintained roads where I live in Surrey and in hindsight should have gone for 17 inch. Whilst I am extremely careful how I park in supermarket car parks etc, others do not give a jot so I fully expect to have the lower matching body coloured side cladding dented although I have taken out the appropriate separate little insurance to cover this for peace of mind. QUESTION: Would it be possible to replace these panels with black plastic cladding like on SEL and any idea of cost?
