Re: Oil service message before 12 months ownership
In some markets there is a service check at 1000 miles or 1500kms. It is only a check for loose components or customer concerns. It is not mandatory and perhaps that was the reason for the advice. In Australia, because I live close to the dealer, they saw me on the street and invited me over for the...

Re: Windshield fluid
My old time recipe for screen wash is a two litre bottle of water with a dash of methylated spirits and just two drops-no more-of washing up liquid. Cheap as, and works a treat.Cheers-John

Re: Sat nav update
My VW Dealer in Australia have advised that the update is free as long as it is performed with a service. If not A$150. Sounds fair to me especially as I have prepaid a service plan.-Cheers-John

Re: Disable start-stop.
Hi DaveDelfc, I'm with you, why would you want to disable it, surely when anyone purchases a car they have done their research on the vehicle and are aware of its features. It's there and if you don't want it cutting in just press the off button at start up. -Cheers-John

Re: Disable start-stop.
Hi IWRA, Yes mine is an automatic vehicle, but I can't see the difference in disabling the feature at start up whether the vehicle is manual or auto. I have tried to drive with the feature ON so that I can understand the complaints and it has worked perfectly. My issue with leaving it engaged in an ...

Re: Reverse gear selection
All the manual gearbox vehicles I have driven in my life have had one thing in common; none of them had a gear indicator on a screen. In fact none of them had an infotainment screen. Drivers in control of their vehicle know what gear that they have conciously selected. Can we have some serious discu...

Re: Disable start-stop.
Discussion of this issue is getting nowhere; if you disable the stop start, I imagine that in some way you are potentially voiding warranty. Tampering with the system may well lead to knock on problems in the electrical system including the battery. We all knew when you purchase a modern vehicle tha...

Re: West Australian Plates
Hi Dapple, I Queensland and other states you can order personalised plates in slimmer and wider styles. I have a rear slimline plate mounted on that foam material. If you want to remove it, I think that you can saw it off with nylon fishing line worked in behind it and gradually cut through it. Resi...
