I had this problem sins day one and it seams the local dealer can't find and/or fix the problem. It happens intermittently. Start in the morning/afternoon no problem. When I drove from Point A to B, various times & distance driving and stopping, get out and back in again - various times, when I push the Stop/Start button the engine swing/turn-over but no ignition - it does not start. I press the Stop/Start button to stop the engine from turning and immediately again press it to start, I can hear the door-locks lock and then the engine starts immediately. The problem is that this does not happen every-time, It is intermittently.

Any body else have this problem

Hi ErnstVo,

I had this exact problem, and after much deliberations with the dealership and multiple checking in of my vehicle for diagnostics they did sort out the issue with regards to the intermittent starting. At first they replaced my ECU which didn't solve the issue, and then they replaced my Cam Sensors which has seemed to sort out the issue as I have not had it happen again since. Maybe mention this to the dealership and hopefully they can sort you out. Good luck!
Stay safe, cheers.

Hi all.

Your comments above are very interesting, I have the same issues with my T Cross which was towed to the dealer for the second time in 14 days. An intermittent fault, on pushing the start button it cranks over but has no spark and fails to start. My local V/W dealership appear to have no clue as to the problem and to be honest show little interest. On its first visit with this problem a new battery was fitted, which obviously wasn't the issue as it happened again. As I said its currently at the garage and I'll keep you updated on progress. but thanks to the person who mentioned the Cam Sensors, i will pass this on to the dealership. Not a good start for a new car. I now have no confidence in its reliability. JohnG

Mines booked in 14th oct for the starting issue. Having previously mentioned it and getting nowhere today they seemed to know something about it. Mechanic even mentioned cam sensors. Hopefully fixed in 2weeks &#x1f91e-1f3fb;

Well the car went into the dealers on Thursday 14th oct. Apparently there is a ‘TPI’ regarding this fault now. vw technical have had time to figure it out. In my case the Hall Sensor has been replaced an 5days later there has been no starting issues. Hopefully this is now resolved.
