I think that the SEL spec is really good, but am trying to decide if I can live without a spare wheel.
Have heard too many tales of problems just having a repair kit and compressor.
It is not even offered as an optional extra, so will proberably go for something else instead.
Shame really, as I really like the car

A spare wheel is an option on the German web site, so I assume one can be fitted.

I was told one can be supplied by the supplying dealer for about £250. It should really be on the Configurator.

Yes, approaching the dealer is the way to go, I'm sure there must be a work around.
The brochure mentions a Tyre mobility kit for the S'' model, but nothing above that..
I have run the configurator again, and at the end clicked on Standard Equipment for the SEL - near the bottom of the list it states 'Tyre mobility set in lieu of spare wheel'
I did Email VW customer services, but got a vague reply back as follows:-

Thank you for contacting us regarding your vehicle.

Unfortunately, we are unable to comment on any future plans to add a jack as an optional extra as we do not currently have any information regarding this. It is something we can add to new product ideas to be considered.

I am glad that you are enjoying your new Volkswagen T Cross SEL, I hope it serves you well and you keep enjoying it.

If you have any further queries, please call us on the number provided.

Thank you for contacting Volkswagen UK.

Kind regards

I replied that it would be a good trick if I could enjoy driving a T Cross as there are none in the country yet.
I may be writing to a machine that scans and guesses an appropriate reply

Hi Daytel
Funnily enough I e-mailed them about the spare wheel too (and the confusion surrounding the Driving Mode Selection availability). Hopefully a human being reads it and responds!
One other feature that was mentioned at launch and in the new reviews by auto express etc is 'the option of a folding front passenger seat'. I was hoping to get this because I found it useful when I had it in a Touran I owned in 2005. But no sign of that anywhere on configurator it seems. I think you always get a bit of muddle at the launch of a new model. As an early adopter I just have to live with that.

Me again, still going on about the spare wheel.
I spotted on the T Roc forum that there appears to be 3 types of spare wheel, namely:
Full size
Space saver
Space and weight saving spare wheel

It's the last one that is being offered as an option on the T Cross.
Does anybody know how they actually compare?
It must be a bit skinny, but as long as it gets me out of trouble I can live with that, plus you don't loose so much boot space.

Good luck in your search.
For my part I have a T Cross on order, including a spare wheel. I am happy with a space saver as I can utilise what small space is below the floor.
I would keep the floor in the higher position as I managed to get the dealer to throw in a reversible mat as a deal breaker, valued at £77,

T Cross R Line DSG Reef Blue. Spare wheel, Folding Mirrors, Rear view Camera, Park Assist.
Ordered 17th July
Stage 5a 5th Sept
Estimated collection 1st week October

I bought an ex demo T Cross R Line with no spare wheel just repair kit and compressor but insisted that I wanted a spare wheel. They obliged at a cost of £218 fitted including "Free" fitting kit. Not a weedy little space saver half decent size 205/60 R16 and the original repair and compressor kit fits neatly on "shelf" beside spare wheel cavity with the boot floor flat. Pleased with the result and got options if I get a puncture!

Sorry for slow response couldn't find any part numbers on paperwork but this label was stuck to the tyre if you can make any sense of it!

Does anyone have a T Cross R Line which has factory supplied wheel. I have this model but wondered what the factory supplied wheel size was as opposed to a third party wheel, both tyre size and overall width.

Hi Hamlin 9 thank you for your prompt reply I did note your spare wheel info, is your wheel the same as the one supplied from the factory I am not sure how a 16 inch wheel will work with the others being 18 inch I appreciate you will only be using it to get out of trouble, is your wheel from another comparable VW model and if so did they tell you which one. Many Thanks Topcat.

Hi...mine is a factory supplied wheel, ordered when I ordered my car. The 16 inch tyre has a higher profile than the 18 inch..so overall, they are much the same diameter.. It is well worth ordering with a new car, but I appreciate that it is probably too late for yourself.. If it was me, and I already had a T-cross without a spare wheel, I would buy the genuine VW spare rather than a generic spare off EBay, which may, or may not fit..even though VW seem to charge twice what they cost when ordered with the car..!
