Hi
Just joined the forum ,got a 1.0 115 SEL in Energetic orange due in a few weeks. So far so good.

Noticed some new T Cross deliveries parked outside the local dealers the other day ,one in white was marked up as an SEL, certainly looked like one , correct alloys and trim as far as I could tell etc. Thing is the car had had Drum brakes on the rear , big finned things in black. Don't think you can get the SEL in the 1.0 95 engine?
Not against Drums per sec but on a £22K car will be gutted if VW have changed the specification for the 2020 model year to save money ,I would certainly have considered alloys that made the rear drums less obvious had I known , the 16 inch more closed alloys on the S model spring to mind.
The configurator still says Disk/Disk but the latest brochure doesn't mention specifically which is a worry.

Can anyone who has recently received a Se or an SEL in October confirm or deny this ?

The SEL is available with the 95PS version of the 1 litre engine. Therefore that is probably what you saw at your local dealership. You need to have the 115PS version to ensure you get discs front and rear.

I particularly wanted discs all round so opted for the SEL as told that was what came with it. No mention of having to have the bigger engine!! Luckily mine (if it's ever found) is the DSG but would be very unhappy if came with rear drums.

My MY2020 SEL has disk at the back - the price list just talks about the lower power engine (available on S & SE) having rear drums.

Picked my SEL up yesterday. Definitely rear discs, but I've gone for the bigger engine.

It might have had the 95ps diesel engine in it, as i thought all sel had the 115ps petrol.

My cars "nearly there" on the tracker ,so expecting a call from the Dealer this week.
Still perplexed at what I thought I saw the other week but panic subsided now and fully expecting my SEL 115 car to have rear disks.

Got to the bottom of it. Car I saw was. SEL 1.6 diesel , which according to the specs/configurator has rear drum brakes. This makes no sense to me as its a more expensive car but hey ho the Petrol 115 has rear discs ,so happy.
