Hi, and welcome yes you have it.... my se has it.

Its in the manual somewhere but cant remember where. Search my posts im sure its been covered.

The manual gives the very specific sequence to set it up. Sure it refers to lhd vehicle's but just reverse side's for rhd. Its tricky, has to fe dead right.

Thinks its page 91,,,,,, just reverse the instructions for rhd unless the manuals now been addressed and follow to the letter.

This is a feature only when you have electric folding mirrors, so it's not on any model as standard, not even our Rline

1. open the vehicle with a particular key which keeps this setting in memory.
2. fire up the car with N (both manual and DSG)
3. select Reverse
4. fix your mirror in desired position(L for RHD - R for LHD)
5. select N again
6. Turn off the ignition

Get out, lock and unlock (settings are now in your key)

7. Select your mirror (L for RHD - R for LHD)
8. Fire up again and select R.

Hope it works

That's slightly confusing, you don't need the engine running, or to select N (think that's VWs safety lawyers getting in on the act). The following has been correct for many years.

1, It will only work if you have the electric folding mirror option, the mirror needs an extra positioning sensor to know where to move to. This only comes with the electric folding option not with standard manual fold mirrors.

2, you have to select Reverse and the mirror switch needs to be set to the passenger side e.g. L in the UK.

Ignition on, engine doesn't need to be running,
Put mirror Switch to passenger side
Select Reverse
Adjust mirror

On reselecting another gear, After a few seconds the mirror will revert to normal position, but dip again on selecting reverse.

This will only work if the mirror switch is in the passenger position. If you select folding or heating with the switch then the dipping doesn't work. It's crazy why these are mutually exclusive, that's VW. The same as mirror heating via this switch when most manufacturers it's in tandem with rear screen heating.

Exactly but it isn't a sensor, it is just a cable. Two versions of harness come with VW's mirrors. 6-wire for electric and 9-wire for electric folding ones ;)
