OK, trying to calm everything down here, i have in fact had cause to fold the mirrors whilst moving (not on the Cross though), down a very narrow lane (you don't always know until you've turned in, it had a wide entrance and quickly narrowed) and also on more than one occasion when passing another vehicle on a tight road.

I've also done it by mistake whilst travelling, turning the switch the wrong way.

Well from discussing with my dealer today the electric mirrors will only fold in below 40 kmh which is about 25 mph (actually 24.85 mph), I tested this and it is true.

So narrow lanes / wide vehicles coming in other direction or other driving that requires the mirrors folding (to avoid an expensive repair if the mirror got smashed) - slow down below 25mph and they will fold.

Above 25mph and the switch to fold will not work.
