How are T-Cross Owners Finding the 1.0L Engine ?

Post by greycross » Thu May 16, 2019 7:59 pm

I was just wondering how current T-Cross owners are finding the 1.0L engine ?

Having only driven a 1.0L on a short test drive of around 3 miles, I thought it compared well to our 1.4 TSI Golf but obviously lacks the torque of our Golf TDI, which was to be expected.

The small engine was the only concern when we ordered our T-Cross, as I have no experience of the modern 3 cylinder turbo engines that most manufacturers seem to be using nowadays.

So, I would really appreciate any comments from any 1.0L owners as to their feelings on performance of the car, and how they feel after owning their 1.0L for a while (i.e. Happy, disappointed or anything else).

Thanks very much.

I'm very happy with the power of the 1litre engine. It will take a bit of getting used to after my last car which was a turbo diesel. It responds well to the accelerator but you have to use the gears.

I think it depends on the previous engine you had.

I come from a seat leon 1.2 tsi 105 bhp, which is a bit slower on paper, so I am not dissapointed.

For town rides I find it suitable, haven’t driven it on highway yet, but it should be quite ok at motorway speeds.

It's great car around town and will cruise happily at 80mph 2 up on the motorway. I think you would have drop down to 5th gear 4 up on a motorway incline to maintain speed.

This will be the third 1,0 liter car I have owned. First was up! 75 hp non turbo, second Polo 110 hp and the next will be T-Cross 115 hp.
I have found them to be very nice in use and have had no problems with them.
