Towbar on a T Cross

Post by TR7_Driver » Fri Jun 21, 2019 12:45 pm

Has anybody had a towbar fitted to their T-Cross, it is not currently a factory fit option, but need one for my bike rack.

Can a dealer fit them or do you need to go to a specialist. Strange that VW don’t offer this option as they will sell you a towbar mounted bike rack and also looks to be an option on the polo.
Currently considering options.

There isn’t a factory fit towbar unfortunately but there is a dealer fit option, either fixed or detachable. See attached screenshot of the accessories page of brochure.

Asked about towbar on a new t-cross - told the dealer is not allowed to deliver a new t-cross with the towbar fitted, due to emissions or fuel consumption regs.
Buyer has to take delivery of the car , and return it at least 24 hours later for fitment !
Looking to replace L&K Yeti at end of the year.
Considering SEL 1.0 , foldable mirrors, spare wheel, high beam assist, towbar possibly in Turquoise.

I need a tow bar for bike rack, this would be a big inconvenience having to take a new car back for the tow bar to be fitted after delivery. Dealer did not advise of this when I was discussing my spec, which included tow bar option.

VW don't half make life difficult when trying to spec and order a car, why can't it be a factory fitted option.

Is this again VW trying to fiddle the figures and get around legislation!.
